The story in English |
It all began with Adam & Eve. From Earth, God created Adam, the man, breathing life into him though his nostrils. Later, using a rib from Adam, God created Eve the woman, awakening Adam’s desire. From then on man and woman would be inseparable, being of the same flesh.
They lived in the Garden of Eden where it was banned to eat fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Eve was seduced by the Snake and ate an apple, later luring Adam into eating one too. God punished all three of them by sending them out of the Garden of Eden and barring them from the Tree of Life and thereby the attainment of eternal life (1.Mos.Kap.3)
Eve is often blamed as the one causing the Fall of Man but in the story about The Garden of Eden the Snake, Adam and Eve were all guilty and each one of them had to suffer their own fate. This had the consequence that they were banned to live in the mortal world and Eve, and all women after her, had to suffer giving birth to her children.
In Denmark Eve as a name was not used until the 1500 century as it was connected to the Fall of Man.
