Tandfe

The Tooth Fairy

The tradition of the tooth fairy can be traced back to the old. Viking customs of giving a present to a child when his or her first tooth could be seen.

When the child lost his or her tooth it was buried in the ground because folk believed that a witch could put a course on the child if she obtained the lost tooth. Now a new tooth could come.

Through the centuries the tradition has changed from burying the tooth to hiding it under the pillow. Nowadays the tooth is placed in a little box and the child is given a coin in return for the tooth that has fallen out.

The idea of our tooth fairy figure is that the tooth can also be placed in the pocket of the figure after which the tooth fairy will come during the night and replace it with a coin.
