| The story in English | The word “Angel” means “Messenger”. The angel phenomenon can be traced back to before the Christianity and Jewry. The Bible contains many good examples of our concept of angels but believing in angels dates further back. Angels can be dated back until the fourth or third century B.C. to areas around Mesopotamian, to the old civilisations to what is called Iran today. Angels act as messengers between God and human beings. Angels deal with “small” personal problems while God is taking care of the more important ones. The concept that angels are attached to humans as guardian angels originates from these ancient traditions. |
| Die Geschichte auf Deutsch | Das Wort „Engel“ bedeutet „Bote“. Das Engel-Phänomen kann bis vor das Christen- und Judentum zurückverfolgt werden. Die Bibel enthält viele gute Beispiele für unsere heutigen Engel, aber der Glauben an Engel ist schon älter. Engel können zurückverfolgt werden bis in das 4. oder 3. Jahrhundert vor Christus in Regionen um Mesopotamien, zu der alten Zivilisation, die heute Iran genannt wird. Engel fungieren als Boten zwischen Gott und der Menschheit.
